Jonathan commenced his career in local government in 1994 following a brief military career.  Since 2005 he has been CEO at the Shire of Mundaring, located in Perth’s Eastern Metropolitan Region, following a similar role in the Shire of Derby-West Kimberley.  Previous positions reflect his strong people focus, in HR roles at the Shire of Kalamunda, City of Subiaco and Town of Port Hedland.

Jonathan has led a cultural change at the Shire of Mundaring, embedding organisational values into the Shire’s business practices, including recruitment and performance management.  In 2010, he was appointed as an Ambassador for the Year of Women in Local Government.

Despite being very satisfied with a varied and rewarding career, Jonathan says the most important parts of his life and greatest achievements are his family.  With wife Justine he has four children aged 19, 17 (twin boys!) and 14.  Jonathan highly values his own work/life balance and encourages his staff to put their families first.
