Monica Patterson

Monica Patterson, was appointed to the role of Chief Executive of East Lothian Council in February 2020.

Monica joined East Lothian Council in 2010 as Executive Director, Community Services, latterly holding the position of Depute Chief Executive, Partnerships and Community Services, with responsibility for a wide range of frontline services including Building Standards; Corporate Policy and Improvement; Economic Development; Housing and Homelessness Services; Planning and Development; Property Maintenance; Road Services; Sport, Countryside and Leisure; Transportation; and Waste Services.

During her time with the Council, service redesign and improvement have been key priorities, resulting in improved partnership working to deliver a range of high quality locally delivered services.

Before this, Monica had over 25 years’ experience in senior roles, including  Head of Housing Services for North Lanarkshire Council; Depute Director of Housing for Renfrew District Council; and Chief Management Officer for Edinburgh City Council.

Monica is a member of Solace and leads the Economy portfolio for the branch.
