Gerard has a range of experience in both the public and private sectors. His experience gives him a strategic overview of changing landscape in the public sector, developed from his time working within councils and as a consultant working across a range of public sector agencies.

With a degree in Finance and Economics, Gerard has also worked for the National Australia Group, where he was part of the team responsible for the construction of a multi-million pound activity-based costing model for the European arm of the business.

Gerard joined the Improvement Service from East Dunbartonshire Council in September 2016 as was appointed to his current role as the Head of Transformation, Performance and Improvement in September 2020.
