The mood music at Solace Summit last week was mixed, with our members mindful of the impact of compounding crises and challenges on councils, their workforces, and the communities they serve. But those present in Birmingham also relayed a sense of remarkable resilience in the face of adversity.
For some operating in turbulent times has become the norm and while we should take confidence from the way the sector plans and responds to emergency after emergency, we should not forget the importance of doing the basics right and doing them well…”
