“The preciousness of life and the fact health inequalities have widened in recent years has been a running theme through the UK Covid-19 Inquiry so far and will likely recur as proceedings continue over the coming weeks and months.

While much of the media focus will be on the ‘blame game’ it’s more important the country concentrates on, and responds accordingly, to the learnings that come out of the inquiry. But we can’t wait for the inquiry to finish its work – which could take years – especially when there are things we could, and indeed should, be doing to ensure systems work effectively to make communities healthier.”
