Understanding safeguarding legislation, policy and procedures in 2019

Lead Business Partner at Solace, Zurich Municipal has partnered with The INEQE Group, led by the former CEO of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP), Jim Gamble QPM to develop a Safer Schools App.

The Safer Schools App helps educate adults on the latest trends in social media and what platforms children use, risks associated with them, signs to look out for when something not right is going on and general hints and tips. It also shows children how to stay safe online, who they can talk to if they don’t feel comfortable about something that happened online, and other useful information.

The application and additional resources is designed to safeguard children and young people, creating a virtuous bond of safety where the safeguarding risks are shared between the school, parents/carers and the young people.

The App is available to all Local Education Authority and school customers that have their main programme of insurance with Zurich Municipal. The Zurich Municipal Safer Schools App represents a unique solution for school communities and has been already downloaded by 197,000 pupils, in addition to 141,000 Teachers, and 394,000 Parents. .

As part of the package, which fully meets OFSTED and compliance needs, each school receives:

  • Cost effective training, saving on average £2,500 per school
  • Effective resource planning for teachers as opposed to attending external training courses, resulting in the additional cost for schools.
  • Dynamic continuous professional development for all school staff
  • Allows the school community to deliver consistent, relevant safeguarding  messaging,

You can download the App for your personal use, and also for discussion with your Designated Safeguarding Officer by following the below steps:

Step 1) Download the App for free by searching for ‘Safer Schools’ in the Apple App Store or on Google Play.

2) Enter ‘Solace’ as the Name of School.
