Sharon Kemp, Solace spokesperson for environment and climate change, said: “The Government’s 10-point plan for climate action is a welcome recognition of the urgency and scale of the challenges posed by the climate emergency.

“Solace has already been making the case for many of these proposals, from decarbonising homes and transport, to investing in renewable energy infrastructure. It is promising to see our shared climate priorities reflected in this announcement, however it is vital that these commitments are ultimately matched by funding at a scale that can support the sustained and urgent action required.

“While we await the details of these proposals, local government stands ready to work with our national colleagues and play a key role in the delivery of this plan, so we can ensure our local communities see the benefits of increased action on the climate emergency and a green recovery from Covid-19.”
