Solace statement on schools

Ade Adetosoye, Solace spokesperson for Children & Families, said: “While it is far better to keep children in school, the welfare and safety of both pupils and staff must be paramount.

“Schools should be supported to operate safely and ensure children and staff are protected – that is why we want all school staff to be among the first in line for vaccinations to ensure schools can remain open and/or reopen as quickly as possible.

“In the event of the imposition of widespread closures, schools should be provided with the necessary additional support to deliver online teaching, especially to the most vulnerable and those students who do not have access to digital learning to ensure any impact on inequality is kept to a minimum.”
