Ignite is our leadership programme designed to enable local government Chief Executives to further develop their understanding of their roles in an increasingly complex environment.
The programme provides a shared space for cohorts of around 12 Chief Executives to work through their individual and system leadership challenges together, identify and explore themes relevant to their role with senior leaders and critical friends outside of local government, and build stronger relationships with peers that can support deeper collaboration across local government.
Ignite works on a collaborative and co-designed basis – which means that each cohort has the opportunity to shape their own priorities and work on learning outcomes that are developed as a group.
Lasting approximately 9 months, our Ignite programme is supported by the Local Government Association, and delivered in partnership with Collaborate CIC
Hear from our past participants
“(The IGNITE programme) reminded me why it is important to properly listen to others and seek to understand. How can we develop a shared journey of integration if we haven’t taken the time to properly understand each other’s objectives and cultures? And the importance of being courageous if we want this to lead to something different. We need to be more than just good thinkers and advocates; we will need to be able to propose solutions”
“This programme aims to develop skills for collaborative leadership for Chief Executives in local authorities. It has been extraordinarily powerful. I have developed trusting, positive and supportive relationships with a range of colleagues across the country who are grappling with issues of public service reform.”
“What Ignite has done is create a safe space where we can learn together – discuss ideas, reflect on different approaches, be introduced to leadership tools, contemplate perspectives and share anxieties and concerns”
