EMCC Coaching
Programme

Some courses teach coaching theory. We develop coaches.

Solace are delighted to be working with Developing Success to bring you this acclaimed and experiential executive programme accredited by EMCC as part of its coaching offer.

Developing Success is a market leader in delivering accredited coach training programmes to EMCC Foundation, Practitioner and Senior Practitioner levels, with an emphasis on ‘the psychological dimensions of coaching’.

This nine-day EMCC Accredited Practitioner Programme is designed to be a powerful and experiential programme for people who quickly want to accelerate their coaching experience and skill in an environment conducive to rich learning and development. This professional programme holds a European Quality Award assuring you that it meets rigorous standards.

One of the things that makes our programme stand out from the crowd is the amount of contact time we offer trainee coaches, both in understanding the theory, and applying it practically to their coaching.

In addition we believe that the large amount of skills practice on the course, coupled with powerful  personal development gives you a point of difference in this increasingly competitive industry.

Stuart Rennison-Price Chief Operating Officer, Virgin Care Limited

“I enrolled in a coaching programme with Sue and Rebecca expecting to learn about the theory of coaching with some practical application thrown in for good measure…

What actually happened was quite life changingly different. The programme, whilst rich in theory, was more a learning experience of self discovery, enabling delegates to deeply understand themselves, in order to effectively work with clients.

The result of this awareness was that I was then able to work more effectively with others. Sue and Rebecca’s ability to work at a technically competent level, coupled with a closeness to develop trusting relationships was the magic in this incredible programme which I will never forget!”

Lisa Haywood, Independent Coach and OD Professional

“For me, studying business and executive coaching with Sue and Rebecca of Developing Success was a deeply rewarding, and in some ways transformational, personal and professional development experience.

With their different but complementary styles Sue and Rebecca created a learning environment that mirrors the coaching space itself – supportive yet challenging, working with process as well as content, and drawing on the knowledge and experience in the room to further the learning of the group as a whole.

The programme was practical, highly experiential and prioritised depth over breadth of coaching theories and methodologies, supporting delegates, whether experienced or new to coaching, to improve their capability. The tutors brought theory to life with their own insights and examples from their extensive coaching knowledge and experience.

This, along with their evident passion for coaching and its value in developing others, made for a rich learning experience and role modelled for us the very qualities that sit at the heart of effective coaching practice.”

Programme aims & benefits

The aim of the programme is to develop highly competent and confident business and personal coaches, fully prepared with the knowledge, skills, and accreditations that they will need to work independently or as an advanced coaching resource within an organisation.

It is designed to develop a sound understanding of coaching, encompassing classic coaching models and more specialist and highly relevant concepts relating to coaching in organisational systems, coaching leaders and a range of behavioural change methodologies.

A specific element of the programme is to train participants in Gestalt and Transactional Analysis approaches to coaching, and to develop skill in applying psychological theories and methodologies.

Additional programme benefits include:
• Developing self-awareness and awareness of your presence and impact, enabling you to work with the psychological and relational aspects of coaching
• Providing a holistic understanding of personal coaching style enabling delegate to develop a ‘signature’ style to their coaching
• Creating a close-knit network of coaches who have journeyed together through the course and who can continue to draw on each other for support, co-consultancy and learning

Content & Approach

Each workshop includes theory, practice and reflection.

The theoretical inputs draw on up to date coaching and coaching psychology disciplines, giving participants a thorough grounding in business and personal coaching.

The workshops cover the following key areas:
• The Fundamentals of Coaching
• The Psychological Dimensions of Coaching
• Coaching for Behavioural Change
• Coaching in the Organisational Context

The theoretical aspects of coach education are a vital aspect of learning to coach effectively, but theory alone does not produce an excellent coach.

That is why our programme has been carefully developed over years to incorporate the very best in developing coaches.

All workshops will include:
• Up to date coaching theory – taught by experienced business and executive coaches
• Live coaching demonstrations – bringing the course content to life
• Extensive practice and skill development – working on your coaching skills in small groups, led by an experienced coach practice tutor, with a maximum of 4 delegates per group. Coach practice is not role play. It is a genuine coaching encounter based on a live situation brought to the practice session by another delegate. All delegates get to be coach, coachee, and observer in these sessions, providing a rich learning experience
• Personal development – the whole programme is designed around Gestalt principles of awareness raising. Our many previous delegates say the personal development element is one of the best, and most surprising parts of the programme
• Supervision – this is built into our workshop structure, and is a fundamental part of the way we work
• Coaching ethics and good professional practice
• Coaching models tools and techniques – to use with your clients
• Real-life practical coaching examples from our extensive experience working in businesses and organisations

Outside the workshops, delegates are asked to build up a case-load of coachees in order to build up their coaching hours for the award. These coachees may be drawn from the work environment of the delegate, from their personal network or from general business development.

In order to complete your Practitioner Level programme, you will be required to complete pre and post course work:- reading, assignments and 36 hours of client coaching.

OD Lead, Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University NHS Trust

"Rebecca and Sue delivered a number of post graduate year long and foundation level accredited 5-day coach training and train the trainer programmes for our trust over a 3 year period. They are both highly skilled and competent coaches, trainers and facilitators as well as professional, responsive and committed to organisation needs.

The deeper psychological approach (being as well as doing) to coaching that Sue and Rebecca teach and model was different to many other coaching programmes we considered which were focused purely on coaching skills. This was important in supporting our organisation to bring about positive culture change."

Director, Oldham Council

"I would highly recommend Rebecca as a coach. She worked with me at a significant crossroads in my career and was able to help me more fully understand the position I was in and explore the basis for making decisions about my next steps. My coaching relationship with her was one in which I felt very supported but also appropriately and intelligently challenged about the approach I was currently adopting. Most importantly, I was able to reach a position where I could move forward with confidence- as a consequence my coaching experience has left me in both a happier and more professionally rewarding place!"

Senior Pharmacist, Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

"Sue has been my trainer and coach on both a foundation level coaching course and inspired me to progress to the PG Certificate Executive and Business Coaching Programme. Sue is a great trainer; able to explain complex psychological concepts as well as hold a room of delegates with
apparent ease. Sue brings her warmth and authenticity to individuals she works with, having the courage to share her own vulnerabilities in the interests of the delegates development. Sue has enabled a personal transformation in me through her careful questioning, use of techniques and brilliant timing which has allowed me to find a number of ‘aha’ moments!"
