Aim of the event

Chief Executives, Directors and officers with responsibility for health and wellbeing are invited to attend this joint event between Solace and the District Councils’ Network.

The landscape both of local government and the NHS is changing. Devolution and the growing significance of place based health approaches seek to offer sustainable ways forward. District Councils can and should be part of that emerging picture, maximising their influence through prevention, enabling and social roles. How does your council aim to respond to this agenda? This event aims to:

- Raise awareness of the opportunities and potential of District Councils to improve the health of their communities
- Update portfolio holders and officers on the Kings Fund report “The District Council contribution to public health: a   time of challenge and opportunity”
- Build commitment and energise District Councils to further engage in locality work around health.
